Reparenting ourSelves following complex trauma

So much of post traumatic growth is about reparenting ourSelves and our Parts (concepts from internal family systems). The Cancer/Capricorn axis can teach us about both sides of reparenting ourselves (and parts). We need the structure, foundation and sustained action of Capricorn to build what we want for ourselves in the 3D. We also need the gentle kindness, hiding, supporting self care and introversion of Cancer.

A balance of these polarities allows our nervous system to be comfortable enough with the growth we are creating to allow the growth to continue. If we push ourselves too hard leaving too little time and space for rest our “soft animal bodies” will rebel and make what we are building impossible because it will be perceived as too big a threat to our safety. We will break down, get sick, get overwhelmed, space out, we will find any way we can to not do the thing if the thing is a threat our nervous system is not ready for.

Capricorn wants to build foundations, secure resources and- let’s face it-work. Cancer wants to stay home and let the good things in life come to her. Both of these energies are needed always, but especially anytime we want to create a shift in our lives. Complex (relational) trauma has taught a lot of us millennials and GenX that life never gets to be easy, money is hard, we have to bend and contort ourselves to maintain relationships and that we simply are not enough just as we are.

This is the kind of work I help people with. If you are curious about what this looks like I would love for you to book a free connection session with me to learn more. You can book that using This Link or the button below.
